I have had this attachment a wile, but don't use it often enough to remember how I put the blade in the previous time. I have the older version of the blade. The thick dark color one. Anyway, it is not marked in anyway, as to top or bottom. So the blade fits in either way. However I have read somewhere that if you put it in backwards the blades won't cut. The blade needs to be marked top and bottom.

I bought this years back and have been using it. The outer screw cap cracked in the 3rd use and got another one ( spare part) It grinds well provided the meat is quite cold but not frozen. I just love it.

I received this as a gift after I got my first mixer! I was very excited to be able to grind my own meats and cheeses, boy was I wrong..... The cheese sticks to everything and it's a pain to clean, and you have to clean the blade after about 3/4 a block of cheese. As for meet grinding, get a hand all metal grinder or plan to do only about 1/2 pound at a time when you need it. Pretty big disappointment kitchen-aid. Doesn't give me confidence in the other attachments
